The Ring Three has been announced. Hideo Nakata is rumored to be the director with David Dorfman reprising his role as Aiden and Kelly Stables returning as Samara. The film currently has an expected release date of 2011.

Plot summary for The Ring Three:
The film revolves around the events that took place before the 2002 remake of The Ring starring Naomi Watts. This reported prequel of the 2002 film will tell the story of the years before the video tape came to be and the beginning of how Samara's terror began.

Set 30 years before the original, The Ring Three sees a young Samara Morgan cast away to a psychotic unit, thrust away from normality. Mentally unstable and in-animate, Samra vows to get revenge on her tormentors before she is tragically killed and dispersed down a well, however, unbeknown to her twisted parents and local pretty-girl Mary-Elizabeth Winstead, a curse is about to be born, a curse which will later claim many lives, as the vengeful spirit of Samara is born.
